Medical Services:
Free medical services are provided to eligible patients at the Angels Community Clinic on Tuesday evenings. New patients are advised to arrive at 4 P.M. with income information and photo I.D. Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis. After completing the screening process, patients see a nurse for a general assessment, and the doctor or nurse practitioners begin seeing patients at 6 P.M. Medical services at the Clinic include physical assessment and examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. Prescribed medications are provided to patients on Tuesday nights through the pharmacy. These medications are dispensed to patients at no charge; however, patients will need to continue to provide income verification so that office staff can order more medications to stock the pharmacy. Bills acquired before becoming a patient, or received from referrals outside the Clinic will be the responsibility of the patient. However, a patient that is referred by the Clinic for a service can apply for a grant through the Clinic if the expense becomes overwhelming. The patient should see office staff to pick up a copy of the grant application for this service. Follow up appointments are now offered on Thursday mornings with our on-staff nurse practitioner, Sherry Crittendon. These appointments are from 9 A.M. to noon, and are scheduled. If you are an established patient and wish to schedule an appointment for a Thursday morning, please call the office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Routine lab services (for cholesterol checks, etc.) are done on Tuesday and Thursday morning beginning at 9 A.M. for established patients. Blood pressure and pulse checks can be done anytime during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Dental Services:
The Angels Community Clinic provides free dental care to eligible patients as appointments become available. Patients are placed on a waiting list, and scheduling occurs as dentists allot time in their personal schedules. Emergency dental problems should be brought to the attention of the Clinical Director, Barbara Jackson, or the Executive Director, Summer Cross, and action will be taken. The Clinic is currently in the process of looking at better ways to provide more services to patients seeking dental care.
Pharmacy Services:
The Angels Community Clinic operates on on-site, licensed pharmacy on Tuesday evenings. Patients needing refills are advised to call in their refill order on Mondays from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., refill orders are filled on Tuesday evenings when pharmacy staff are present, and patients can pick refills up on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Patients seen on Tuesday evenings that are prescribed new medications will receive the prescription that evening. No refills will be given out on Tuesday evenings. The pharmacy stocks a wide variety of medications, however, if there is a medication that is not in stock and deemed necessary, the patient will be given a written prescription and advised to take it to Walter’s Pharmacy, who provides medications to Clinic patients at cost. If funds are available, the Clinic will cover the cost of such medication. The Clinic does NOT stock narcotics, and prescriptions will not be written for narcotic medications. Patients needing a prescription for a narcotic medication should either go to the Emergency Room or seek treatment elsewhere. |
